After releasing five albums independently from 1993 to 2002 he signed to a major label for 2003's Beneath These Fireworks. Not happy with the alliance, he extricated himself from his contract after a couple years and recorded this set live in front of fans. The venue in the title is the long-running club outside of Philadelphia and the entire house is in his hands. They delight at his anecdotes and comedic asides, sing along when prompted, and, in general, fall under the spell of one man and his acoustic guitar. A wonderful way to spend an evening
After seeing Matt perform to a live audience, I was eager to hear him again. I purchased this album and truly enjoyed it. This isn't musically masterful, it's not going to win any composition awards, but the entertainment and simplicity to be found in his performance and lyrics make it all the more valuable. Highly reccommended for those looking "for a good time." Rating:

Awesome live performer
There isn't much I can say other than Matt Nathanson is amazing. His lives shows are about a 50/50 mix of music and comedy. He has a quick wit and is always on his game. If you ever have the chance to see him live, do it...you won't be sorry. In the meantime, this CD is a great substitute. He plays many of his well known songs and has some fun interaction with the crowd. You will not be disappointed! Rating:

Um bom show acústico, mas com muita conversa.
Já acompanhava o trabalho do Matt Nathanson há algum tempo. Por isso senti falta de várias músicas neste show acústico. Achei também que houve muita conversa com a platéia. Tenho certeza que para quem estava no show foi ótimo. Entretanto, para quem comprou o cd fica um pouco repetitivo e tira a continuidade do show. Fora isso, as músicas presentes são ótimas, especialmente "curve of the earth, princess, lost myself in search of you e fall to pieces". Rating:

I'm addicted
Matt Nathanson is SUCH a good time, and the banter in between songs makes you love him that much more. He is SO funny! I have to listen to this CD entirely too much - I'm a lil' hooked on him. Rating:

Absolutely Amazing
This is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Matt is absolutely amazing, i listen to this album every night while i go to sleep and it never gets boring. Matt actually graduated from my high school in '93 and i knew him when he went here before he was big. He is an awesome guy and an amazing musician. I recommend this album to EVERYONE. Not only are his songs amazing but his intros are absolutely helarious. |
