Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2007-06-13 Saved me hundreds of dollars I had a recurring "Service Engine Soon" indicator on my 1999 Range Rover 4.6 with about 60K miles. The ODBC scanner would return mass air flow and 4th gear ratio faults, which would only stay cleared for a few hours driving before the "Service Engine Soon" light came back on and the same faults reappeared in the scan. Research indicated that this was a problem with the mass air flow sensor and that it would be hundreds of dollars to replace even if I did it myself. There was not too much of a noticable performance issue, but milage per gallon did seem low, even for a RR.
Knowing I would be dealing with this at the 65K mile servicing, I decided to give this product a shot. I figured five bucks was a good bet against the chance of spending five hundred. I am happy to say the bet paid off. It turns out I needed an additional $2.50 to buy the number 20 security Torx driver (the one with the star and the hole in the middle) needed to remove the MAF from the plenum. It was money well spent. The faults have not come back, performance is noticibly better and my milage is back up to where it should be. There was some discoloration on the MAF plates which the product removed easily. I would definitely recommend giving this a shot before shelling out for new sensor. Just be sure to follow the directions on the can and be gentle with the sensor.
Rating: Date: 2007-01-11 CRC Industries Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner Review Just tried CRC's new Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner on my 1997 BMW 540i (134,000 miles) and it worked as advertised. The engine fault code cleared out and the car is running much smoother and more responsively. A cheap fix that will become part of my normal maintenance routine. The local BMW dealership was trying to tell me I would need to replace the Sensor Unit for over $500.00. And they wonder why I refuse to go to the new car dealerships anymore. Thanks CRC Industries!!!

END Rating: Date: 2006-12-23 Very good results I ordered a couple cans through Amazon because no parts stores have it yet in Michigan. I've got two vehicles that use hot wire MAF sensors, one is a '98 Chevy sedan and the other is a '95 Range Rover Classic. On the Chevy it didn't make a whole lot of difference, a little better response but not much. On the Range Rover it made a huge improvement after I cleaned the MAF sensor, much more power and smoother running in all conditions. It was amazing, like getting a new engine, there's been nothing else that has caused so much improvement to this engine. The first time I started it after cleaning I could hear an improvement in how smooth it ran and on the road it has much more pickup and response and runs smoother and quieter than it ever has. This vehicle has about 135k miles on it and I've owned it 3 years. This is the first time I tried to clean the MAF sensor and this product really did it's job. I would never have believed how effective it is if I didn't see it with my own eyes and drive the vehicle to experience how much better it runs now. I've always kept the engine in good condition, new spark plugs and ignition system plus kept the fuel and air filters clean. I thought it ran quite well but after this cleaning I found out it really wasn't running that well, it ran rough compared to how it is now. Land Rover uses a different type of MAF unit than Chevy does and that may be why the Rover one was acting as it was with dust in it, all I really know is it made a huge improvement in how this vehicle runs. It feels like 50% more power, it's peppy and light in response to the throttle, I can drive up hills now without pushing the pedal down to down shift, it doesn't need to down shift because the power is so much higher. Going from a stop light I can definitely feel more power too.

Michigan Rating: Date: 2006-09-28 Works great for Turbocharged Cars I purchased a can of this to clean the MAF for my Turbo Volvo with almost 200K on it. The MAF had never been cleaned before and has some discoloration and oil residue from using an Oil/Gauss filter (like K&N). Cleaning was easy and only took about 10 minutes. It's a simple as removing the sensor, spraying it multiple times and letting it dry. After the procedure my rough idle went away and I felt as if the engine had more power. (Most likely due to a clean sensor on a forced induction vehicle.). If you are running a turbocharger on your car, this is a great investment. Rating: Date: 2006-08-14 No difference Used this on an F-150 with 164,000 miles. I wasn't having any performance problems; just saw this product advertised and thought I might benefit from using it. The sensor had never been cleaned. When I removed it for cleaning I could see no deposits or discoloration on the wire. After treatment, I couldn't tell any difference in performance. |
