This just seems like somebody capitalizing on the whole ironic Urban Outfitters 80's post glam thing. Certainly, dance music is repetitive by nature, but more can be done than this. I'm a sucker for atari-esque and 8bit tones, but I'm not falling for the leather jackets and neon colors motif. I guess it's kind of frightening when musicians get labeled as visionaries for being the first to rehash a bygone decade. It's fun and bouncy and not necessarily distinguishable from other fun bouncy pop electronica. Probably great music for your Miami Vice themed halloween party. eh.

Are thet copy cats?
I read that they are copying other bands left and right. This may be true, but even if they weren't, they certainly copy themselves from track to track. That may be even worse. Yawn.

Rip Off Artists
It's recently come to light that Crystal Castles, a Toronto-based band, has been heavily sampling music from several chiptune music artists without obtaining permission or crediting them. Lo-bat's tracks Bibibi and Tizzy, from his 8bitpeoples release Game Boy, are just two instances of this. 8bitpeoples release all their music under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND License. What this means is that you're free to share it however you like, with whomever you like. They ask in return is that you credit it appropriately, do not use it for any commercial purposes, and obtain permission before creating any derivative works (such as remixing it or using it as the soundtrack for a video). Crystal Castles has violated every term of this license in their use of Lo-Bat's music. Furthermore, they have committed copyright infringement by sampling other artists such as Covox, whose drums from his song Sunday appear in no less than four Crystal Castles songs.

I heard of this pair from Andy, the lead singer of Autopassion.
They didn't have an album at the time, just a myspace. The few songs that were on their page got me hooked. I bought this record the instant I new it existed. I like every song, my kids like it and my wife says it's okay. That's a good review from Mrs. 80's. They took old video game sounds and created a new sensation. If you like techno, house, industrial, or loud house music or if you are a fan of old video games you should buy this record.

amazing, broke new grounds
I'm always on the look out for new music and direction when i stumbled across this album at Virgin megastore. It totally blew me away as it was so new and different from the music I have been listening to for such a long time.

Don't get me wrong, my taste in music is sharp (Hotel Costes, St. Germaine, Mika, depeche mode, etc), but this album is a SHARP deviation from normal conventions and rules that you appreciate the artist's creativity and skills.

Anyway big thumbs up and would love to find more music like this.
