Product Description: The Donvier Wave Yogurt Strainer turns 1 cup of yogurt into yogurt cheese, which you can put in a variety of delicious recipes that are low in fat, calories, sodium, cholesterol and lactose. Container seals for storage, as well as during the cheese-making process. Permanent stainless steel mesh strainer. Dishwasher-safe on the top shelf. Includes recipes and instructions. Amazon.com Review: Consisting of a plastic container and a stainless-steel, fine-mesh strainer, this simple unit converts 3 cups of yogurt into 1 cup of thick, creamy yogurt cheese in about 24 hours of refrigeration. (Thickening continues for 24 hours, though a thinner yogurt cheese results in as little as 2 hours.) The yogurt cheese then becomes a healthful, calcium-rich, low-fat alternative to cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and even whipping cream. It can be used as a spread, in salad dressings, to top baked potatoes, mixed with fruit, and to make cheesecake. The unit works by allowing the whey (liquid) in yogurt to drain away, leaving the curds behind. The container is dishwasher-safe and seals to prevent odor transfer while it's in the refrigerator. Simple instructions and recipes for using yogurt cheese are included. --Fred Brack Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-05 Excellent product I love Greek-style yogurt and have been paying a premium price for it at the grocery store. However, since I bought this yogurt maker, I've been able to make my own for much less than what I was paying. The yogurt tastes wonderful and it's quick and easy. Depending on how thick you want it, you usually have to empty out the whey once due to the shallowness of the bottom, but it's a quick 5-second job. I would highly recommend this product if you like the thick, custardy type of yogurt. Rating: Date: 2008-06-09 yogurt cheese maker Okay. Works as described. Container is not large enough to hold 32 oz size of yogurt, which would be nice. Rating: Date: 2008-05-25 easy to use I wanted thick home made yogurt without having to add gelatin, so I had to put cheese cloth in a sieve before I found the Cuisipro yogurt cheese maker. This product definitely is easier and less messy to use.
Very easy to use to make and store laban (thick yogurt). Wish the container was slightly deeper than the current size so that itwould not have to emptied out every so often.
Rating: Date: 2008-05-19 cheese maker simple and works well. Wish there were more recipe type of information to go with it. Never will buy cream cheese again. Rating: Date: 2008-05-15 Like Greek-style yogurt? I bought this here because it was A.) $10 cheaper than the catalogue and B.) I like Greek-style yogurt, and can't get it here!
I use a non-fat yogurt and have this baby making yogurt cheese all the time. I is a great way to make a sour-cream like topper, and great yogurt and fruit breakfast treats.
Easy to use and clean. Skip the cookbook that is recommended with it, the recipes are not the greatest (I tried the egg-extender scrambler~yuck!!)
