Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-02 One of the best cds in my collection When I heard that he was going solo, I knew in my heart and head that his cd was going to be amazing, and every song was going to be mind blowing. Was I right? HELL YEAH I WAS!!!! This cd is out of this world kickass good. I am shocked that there are actually low reviews on this cd, but everyone has their own opinion I guess. But this is mine, and this cd is worth buying and you will not regret it one bit. It sounds like system of down, only it is different, and I dont know how to explain it. It is very political and just mind blowing. I love this cd so much, and this will always be a cd I will adore. BUY IT:D If you are a fan of system of a down, then there is no reason why you shouldnt have this cd. Rating: Date: 2008-06-20 No waaaaaaay.... For me, this album is entirely unbearable to listen to. Serj's vocals just sound completely retarted, and the rest of the music behind it doesn't display much talent. But whatever floats your boat, I guess... Rating: Date: 2008-06-05 Amazing For any SOAD fan, this is an album that holds true to Serj's style. The album is awesome from start to finish! Rating: Date: 2008-06-03 "Love is not about the prophet nor the riches in your dreams." Without a doubt, the best album of 2007. "Nelith is a prophet, from the prophet came the king, from the king came the prophet, from the prophet came the swing, from the swing came creation, from creation came love, you don't know what this life is all about!"
-Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition
As a metal fan, this album is refreshing. I listen to bands like System of a Down (Serj's former band), Iron Maiden, old school Metallica, Children of Bodom, Coheed and Cambria, The Mars Volta. THis album is amazing, and my favorite album of 2007. It's #3 on my favorite albums, and this may be the "Powerslave" of the 2000's.
On this album, Serj takes a direction similar to his SOAD stuff, except this time, in a personal way. "Empty Walls" is about his family dying in the Lebanon riots. "Money" is very reminiscent of Chop Suey- one of those songs that's fast in the chorus and slow in the verse. You can feel the emotion in these songs off the album. "Saving Us" is a song with lots of emotion, great music and lyrics too. "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" is a wierd, but great track nonetheless. And of course, the best song, "Beethoven's C***". A duet between Serj and a backup singer, with great music and lyrics.
Overall, this is an amazing album, and worth it if you like System of a Down. Yeah, SOAD is one thing, but Serj by himself is another. Be sure to buy this album! Rating: Date: 2008-05-14 Quit System of a Down This is the album that System of a Down should have released after Toxicity. Instead, they've released three brutally terrible albums (Hypnotize, Mesmerize, Steal This!), and now they have finally went on hiatus. My advice to Serj: You dont need System of a Down. This album sounds similiar to System of a Down but improves in all the areas that was making SOAD sound so incredibly dumbed down. Everything works on this album. Each song is catchy but also incorporates originality. You will hear politics on this album but what do you expect? At least you don't have to hear that horrendous attempt at singing by that guitarist in System of a Down. Tons of pianos, violins, orchestras, african instruments.....and yes.....guitars! There's some frantic screaming on this album by Serj but most of it includes Serj singing some really nice harmonies. If you liked System of a Down but thought there past two or three releases were just utter crap, then I suggest you purchase this album. Odds are you will be repeating the same advice I present to Serj: Quit SOAD! |
