Product Description:

Personal vendettas, hidden treasure, and a monkey named Carl will send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most explosive adventure yet.

The Crime:  Armed robbery to the tune of nine million dollars

Dom Rizzi robbed a bank, stashed the money, and did the time. His family couldn’t be more proud. He always was the smart one.

The Cousin:  Joe Morelli

Joe Morelli, Dom Rizzi, and Dom’s sister, Loretta, are cousins. Morelli is a cop, Rizzi robs banks, and Loretta is a single mother waiting tables at the firehouse. The all-American family.

The Complications:  Murder, kidnapping, destruction of personal property, and acid reflux

Less than a week after Dom’s release from prison, Joe Morelli has shadowy figures breaking into his house and dying in his basement. He’s getting threatening messages, Loretta is kidnapped, and Dom is missing.

The Catastrophe:  Moonman

Morelli hires Walter “Mooner” Dunphy, stoner and “inventor” turned crime fighter, to protect his house. Morelli can’t afford a lot on a cop’s salary, and Mooner will work for potatoes.

The Cupcake:  Stephanie Plum

Stephanie and Morelli have a long-standing relationship that involves sex, affection, and driving each other nuts. She’s a bond enforcement agent with more luck than talent, and she’s involved in this bank-robbery-gone-bad disaster from day one.

The Crisis:  A favor for Ranger

Security expert Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, has a job for Stephanie that will involve night work. Morelli has his own ideas regarding Stephanie’s evening activities.

The Conclusion:  Only the fearless should read Fourteen.

Thrills, chills, and incontinence may result.

Can You Say Ghost Writer?
Janet Evanovich has been one of my favorite authors with the delightful Stephanie Plum books for some time now. It's a sad day when you wait for the arrival of a new book (hard cover...costing big bucks) and when it arrives you read it with great excitement, only to go, "Who the heck wrote this thing?"

It was like reading an outline of an Evnovich book, handed over to a not very talented hireling, who had no knowledge of the characters or their lives. I won't take the time to list the numerous clues that led to my conclusion, other than to say that Ranger totally lacked heat and this was the one book with no mention of Granpa Mazure and his present location. Frankly, I think Janet has gotten too busy to do her own writing.

When I finished the book, I handed it over to a friend who has loved this series as much as I. I gave her no clue about my feelings about the writing, just waited for her comments when she finished reading. She called to say, "There's really something wrong with this book, isn't there?"

And yes, there is. There is something really wrong with this book.

Good, but not her best
I know many are really critical of Janet's "Fearless Fourteen" and I can understand some of it. This is clearly not her best work, but I don't feel it deserves all that is being said. I felt she did a fine job, and I was looking forward to the read. It was good beach material over the Fourth of July.

Fearless Fourteen
Everything written in Ms Everhards review is 100% on the mark. I concur w/ all her comments & frustrations w/ the last few Stephanie Plum books & this latest book is another disappointment.

Still a good summer evening of fun, in spite of flaws...
I read about 20 reviews before I started tne newest Stephanie Plum adventure by Ms. Evanovich. I liked the novel better than I had expected to. Yes, after 14 years of full comic thrillers, with several shorter "Plum" efforts published as well, the characters and plots seem a bit exhausted. In recent releases in the series, not much new is happening. We readers tend to forget, however, that while 14 years have gone by for us since "One for the Money" only a couple of years have passed in Stephanie's life. Janet chose to have one adventure follow close on the heels of the previous one. In the early books, the next entry kind of started a week or two after the last book ended. I suggested a couple of books (years) ago that it might be time for Stephanie to get a different job, or make a marriage with Joe Morelli, or run off with Ranger, or get pregnant and not know which guy is the dad, etc. Janet has not followed my advice, and the high share of negative reviews for the last few entries should be a warning to her. Still, this one had several good laughs, and while Stephanie's work and love life stand still, best friend Lula might be headed to the altar. The "Plum Books" do need a bit of a shakeup, and a new major character or two, but Janet still has a nice touch for the mixing of comedy and killings, car bombs and cavorting bond jumpers. I am not tired of Trenton yet, since I grew up there, (and even taught school in Chambersburg, where the Plums live) but I understand other fans wanting "more"---of something---than Janet has supplied in the past three years or so.

It's saddens me to say this............
but I think Janet Evanovich has to seriously consider wrapping up the Stephanie Plum series......get her married and pregnant, have her land a smashing six figure job that she can keep, have a totally new man walk in and whisk her right off her feet.........Do something!! Seems to me Evanovich is running out of steam with these characters. This was a quick read (nothing new there), had laugh out loud parts and made you wish every girl could have someone in her life calling her "Cupcake" or "Babe" and smelling like Bulgari shower gel. But, come on, seems to me that the author is trying to milk as much out of this series as she can. Maybe she'll surprise us in #15; one can hope.
