Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-06 Easy on the feet I recently bought the Gazelle Edge to help get in shape for a wedding that I'm participating in. I had a good experience a few years ago with another Gazelle model and wanted to see if it would still work for me now that I'm out of my teens. So far I'm enjoying myself. I'm about a week in, so the results aren't mind-blowing, but after my workout I feel it.
This might not be the right product for people seriously over-weight but for someone who wants to drop 5-20lbs, this could do the trick.
I would tentatively recommend this for people with joint or feet problems.
I have a pretty painful bunion and bad knees (old before my time). On the Gazelle, I don't have the same stress on my foot as jogging or even walking briskly.
Rating: Date: 2008-03-22 I love the Gazelle! I've owned my Gazelle for about a month now. I still use it on a daily basis, that is how great it is! While dieting I lost 3 lbs. in only a week while exercising on the Gazelle daily.
It's great to work out on if you are not into intense workouts. You don't sweat a lot, though I do get a little out of breath using it. I usually hop on it while my baby is napping. It does have a tendency to be noisy, but a liberal use of WD-40 helps a lot. It doesn't wake my daughter, and I tend to listen to music while doing it so it doesn't bother me the least. I was looking into buying a treadmill, but the only one's in my price range were too short for my long stride, and the motor would most likely burn out in less than a year.
I can "run" at a full stride on the Gazelle with ease. Just stretching your legs out on it while you move feels great. It's the best exercise equipment I've ever owned (I've had a stationary bike and a treadmill). Definitely the best equipment for it's price. I do suggest looking on Craig's List first. I bought mine used for $30.
I know there have been some negative reviews, but if you do not change your diet and work out on a regular basis of course you will not lose weight. It's much easier to blame it on an infomercial product instead of one's poor diet. Anything that gets you moving will burn calories, of course!! Rating: Date: 2008-03-01 Youngsters....don't buy this! I bought this piece of junk about two months ago and now it has been placed in the garage. It does work out your calves but other than that you might break a drop of sweat, ONLY (that being my case). You really have no idea how fast I had to operate this machine so that i could feel that i was actually having a good workout. I think this machine is ok for older people who have knee problems and stuff like that, or for people who have never exercised in their life, but if you're trying to lose weight(after changing your eating habits...the gazelle does not complement your effort) and break a sweat consider spending more money. In addition, after 10 min my feet felt numb. After all, it was only 100 dollars, but i learned my lesson and pretty much you get for what you pay. Rating: Date: 2008-02-22 Pleasantly surprised! After reading the reviews here I decided I would give this little machine a try. I have no idea what people are saying when they say this does nothing as far as a good workout. The first time I did it I stayed on for 25 minutes and yes I did sweat and yes I was extremely sore the next day. I have been doing it everyday now for a week and I have already lost 5lbs! Maybe those of you who felt they were not getting a good enough work out were either not doing it properly or maybe your use to very high impact aerobics. For those of you that are looking for a workout that is low impact but will help you lose weight look no further then this machine. I am very satisfied and very happy with my purchase. Rating: Date: 2008-02-07 Good for maintenance I feel ok about my purchase - at least it wasn't overly expensive. I am an overweight person - looking to lose about 50 lbs. I started using the Edge everyday for at least 30-45 minutes. My biggest issues with the machine are that my feet go numb after about 20 minutes. Also, even with pushing myself to go at a good clip - I'm not really getting enough of a cardio workout to burn the fat I need. I have a feeling once I lose more weight, it will be good in maintaining.... |
