Editorial Review:

Like the gun toted by the cowboy hero with whom it shares its name, the Maverick is a six shooter. Unlike the gun that other Maverick had, however, this weapon shoots only soft suction darts that can fly across a room and adhere to a window or other glass surface. The Maverick features a rotating barrel, which makes it easier to keep the firepower flying in the midst of heated battle and a futuristic look to better engender sci-fi fantasy play if you so choose. For a little extra power boost, the gun also has a pump mechanism. In our informal test, the darts flew surprisingly far and impressively straight. --Charlie Williams

Very nice Nerf gun!
This thing is really cool. Very easy to load(just make sure the darts are pushed fully into their slots for problem free shooting). I bought some whistling darts for my cat's enjoyment(no I don't shoot him). He loves them and chases them as I shoot them around the house. WoW! The whistling darts fly much better and faster than the originals(further distances). I suggest buying those extra darts and using them instead.

Coming from a shooters mouth
I am an 11 year old nerf fan. I got the nerf Maverick and I am in LOVE with this gun. Light-weight, durable, accurate, easy to load, quick firing, and its small. The Maverick bullets fly very fast and are difficult to dodge. This is a must have for a nerf fan.

Worth The Money
This gun is probably one of the best guns I've ever gotten. It shoots at an accuracy of about four hits at thirty feet which is better then my Recon nerf rifle and it is very easy to cock. There is one problem with the design though. It is very hard to attach a scope or lazer sight to it because its grooves where you put the scope are on the cock system, which makes it very hard to cock. There are many good things about this gun though like how light it is for its firepower and it lasts a while. From my experience it also can take some beatings and it is a very good gun to have if you're just starting to play because it is very easy to aim. And I'd also recommend it to anybody who's looking for a good but cheap gun. This gun is definately worth paying ten dollers for.

20 Yr old- next day review
Very cool gun! I am 20 and I just horse around with my friends with it. The only problem is the barrel sometimes takes a bit to open/close. The closing problem is frustrating because you have to push the button to open AND close the barrel. This shoots very far, and does not hurt if it hits someone. It was only $10, and I think it's worth that value.

Small Arms in Cubicle Battleground
I purchased this as a distraction at my work. Foam dart weaponry makes for easy entertainment in an afternoon break. I had seen the Nerf Maverick before and when I actually examined the price tag, the decision to purchase it was easily made.

There were three primary reasons that prompted my selection of the Nerf Maverick:

1) The size. It's a child's toy for sure, but it easily fits in an adults hand (aside from some minor pinky-finger displacement). It has a good weight to it, and throwing it around a bit in my cube, it seems sturdy enough to survive my, or any child's, play activities.

2) Functionality. The revolver like mechanism is impressive, and aides in reloading. Also, in truth, it actually makes reloading fun as well. I haven't experienced any problems with the button to disengage the chambers, but I did notice that you can flick it shut with your wrist, which is cool.

Also, with the sonic-tip darts, the toy becomes instantly more enjoyable for you because of the added audible reaction and more annoying to everyone around you. If you enjoy annoying people, than you can expect a 200% increase in happiness by purchasing the sonic-darts. However, I cannot advise parents to purchase those darts unless said parents are often the targets of said darts. Having them whistle through the air will give a parent the chance to hear from where the dart is coming and can both dodge the dart and seek out said renegade child with ease.

3) Aesthetics. It looks cool. It's very sci-fi inspired, and the cocking mechanism is a slide, which doesn't take away from it at all. It's easily the best looking Nerf gun I have come across. You could easily paint it to look like a sci-fi prop (and I likely will as neon yellow doesn't suit this Cube Warrior).

Overall, I'm exceedingly pleased with this toy.

As a note, I did rate it a three in educational as it does teach hand/eye coordination. However, I know for a fact that I know nothing of educating children, and thus should be taken as the non-expert that I am. Still, I do believe that children should learn to interact with their environment without looking specifically at which they intend to interact... even if that interaction involves shooting foam darts.
