Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-06-29 Works great - but no dimmer available This fan is great - we purchased it for the energy savings rating, not realizing that meant it was flourescent and the electrician said you can't use a dimmer switch with a flourescent. That's the only downfall - either on or off when it comes to the light. And you have to use the remote, which in our house with 2 men, will never last, though they said we could super-glue it into the holder...time will tell if this is necessary! Anyway, other than that, it's a great fan - very quiet, looks great. Rating: Date: 2008-06-21 bought it cheaper i just bought the same item at home depo for 99.00 dollars, these guy's here are to expensive Rating: Date: 2008-06-15 Great Fan...easy to install We bought 2 of these fans. The best thing I liked about these is how easy they were to install. While most fans need a second person to hold the base while you wire it into the ceiling, this one allows you to hang the base on the junction plate hook while you perform the necessary wiring. Which means I could have done the whole thing without help. A pleasant surprise. Rating: Date: 2008-06-12 Remote problem The fan is great, but the wiring is too tight in the space available. Very hard to assemble. Also, when there is a power failure and then restored, the light comes back on. This is not good for a traveling person, since it could be on for days. Rating: Date: 2008-06-09 Remote control does not consistently work Bought the Palermo because of its look and the hope that by avoiding a Home Depot/Lowe's knock-off I would buy a superior product.
The controls worked sporadically after installation - but getting a change in fan speed or light required dozens of button presses. Occasionally something would change - so the remote did communicate with the fan - but completely inconsistently.
Trying different dipswitch settings and a different remote control accomplished nothing; neither did changing relative position between the fan and I.
Calls to customer care took much too long to answer - 45 minute hold times were my experience - after trying to leave a message (per the automated system direction) in a full mailbox meant going back into queue.
The answer I finally received from customer service was "your remote is experiencing interference. Not our problem."
Without an alternate way to bypass the inferior quality remote control, and incredibly poor customer service support, I would strongly urge anyone looking for a fan to look elsewhere. |
