Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-05-21 An Amazing Film There's nothing I can say here that hasn't already been said by other reviewers. This is simply one of the best movies I have ever seen. I was fourteen when it came out and was fortunate enough to have seen it in the theatre, and it's stayed with me ever since.
On the chance that someone responsible for this film actually reads these reviews, please get this wonderful film issued on dvd. It's too good to be left by the wayside. Rating: Date: 2008-05-14 Release it on DVD! Like many of the reviews above I saw this movie first when it was in the rotation on HBO many years ago. It made an instant and lasting impression on me and remains one of my favorite movies. Despite the positive feedback from those who have seen it, not to mention an oscar nomination for Diana Scarwid for best supporting actress this movie has not yet been released on DVD. For those who love this film and want to own the dvd, you can vote for it's dvd release on Turner Classic movies website. Cast a vote for a touching, funny and timeless story of friendship. Rating: Date: 2007-11-21 Fantastic Film I was fortunate to see this film when it first came out in the theater. Living in the East Bay, I was drawn by the fact that it was filmed entirely on location and I recognized most of the places in the movie. While that was of interest to me at the time, I soon became engrossed in the story and the performances of the ensemble cast. Frankly, I don't think I had ever seen John Savage before and I'm not sure I had seen David Morse or Diana Scarwid. I do remember developing a mini-crush on Scarwid after seeing this film though! Two cast members worth mentioning, and two I had seem in other performances were Harold Russell (The Best Years of Our Lives) and Tony Burton (Rocky). Both were key to the success of the film. The only thing I can add... HEY... RORRRY!!! Rating: Date: 2007-05-10 Down At Heal Ernest Hemingway once said, "The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places." With "Inside Moves" we are welcomed into some very broken places. And by extension we leave stronger because of it. John Savage lives up to his last name in this Richard Donner film made shortly after he helmed "Superman (I and II)"(and the alert viewer will notice a couple nice nods to the films in the background). It's a "small" film, captured in a methodical series of vignettes in which John Savage soars--and plummets, in one of the most affecting openings I've seen in 1980s films. His slow passage back to the world of the living and the strength of the human spirit is very powerful. His slow simmering when repeating the Mickey Mouse Club theme, ending in the laconic "Y. . . why?. . . why?" is chilling in its intimacy, as we get to watch his steady healing commence. And when he finally confronts his best friend (David Morse, in a strongly narcissistic characterization that rivals his recent turn on Fox's "House"), I wanted to cheer for his passionate indignation and assertion of personal dignity. The supporting cast is pitch perfect, ironically underscoring their own challenges--The blind man sees with sharp clarity, the handless man is the most touching, the wheelchair-bound man is the best dancer. And David Morse is running away from himself, refusing to realize his pity doesn't have a leg to stand on. "Inside Moves" demonstratively shows that "disabilities" are far more attitudinal than physical. [Somebody put this on DVD with a sharp print--please! It deserves to treated with honestly earned respect!] Rating: Date: 2007-03-07 Please Release on DVD Just another note to say this is a great movie that should be released on DVD. Hope it happens soon. |
