Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-07 Works like a charm I've been using my Iomega for about a year as a back-up drive for all of my computers. It's great looking and it works great. What more could you ask for. Price ? I paid the original price and I still feel like a got a good deal. Rating: Date: 2008-06-30 Big Bang! This is just the slickest little tool to use and a big bang for your buck! Rating: Date: 2008-06-28 Love it. What a Time-Saver This is my second Iomega Portable Hard Drive. It's fast and is easily disconnected from one computer and reconnected to another for transferring files on the run. Love It! Rating: Date: 2008-06-18 Iomega eGo 160 GB When I first bought this portable hard drive, I had major problems getting it recognized through my USB enhanced plug-in 2.0 card, even using the pigtail y-connector for additional power. My computer would recognize the portable through a single hardwired 1.1 USB, but the transfer rate was unacceptably slow. I solved the problem by purchasing the external power supply from Iomega (only place it is sold) and dumping the EMC Retrospect Express HD software which was useless. The software, which had to be downloaded from the Iomega website, was intermittent; sometimes it would start to work, other times it just created unusable restore points and never did create a full backup. WinXP has a backup utility, which is not as pretty or graphic, but does the job quickly. In XP Home Ed. it's found on the original discs and needs to be installed into system tools, a fairly easy operation. Overall, the eGo 160 works well, especially if you drag & drop to copy files, but portability is sacrificed somewhat if you have to buy the power adapter. Oh, and don't forget to format the drive into NTFS to get the most of the storage space if you use Windows, before you start! Rating: Date: 2008-06-16 Nice small external hard drive The unit self loads quickly thru the USB port, and because of its small size it is very portable. Just what I needed to carry all my photos and music everywhere with me. So far no problems whatsoever. |
