Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-06-28 Black Tide CD Review: I would have never head of this band if it wasn't for the track Shockwave on the Rock Band game. I'm an older fan of the melodic rock type of music that was huge in the 80's. Thus the reason for giving it a chance.
This CD delivers the goods pretty darned well. I like the guitar work and the vocals aren't bad either. It beats the hell out of the cookie monster vocal crap that seems to be in vogue today.
Was really surprised to find that all of them are under the age of 20 also so it would stand to reason that all they can do is get better with time. That would be a good thing with the lyrics which are geared towards the younger set at least it seems to me to be that way, and being that age should I expect anything different?
So if you like the 80's hair stuff with an edge I say check this out and I don't think you will be disappointed. Rating: Date: 2008-06-27 Great Debut: Four And A Half Stars I thought this was a really quality release so I gave it the extra star. Between you and me though, I think it falls a bit short from a perfect score. I am really into metal, and did not feel that I wasted my money on this. Black Tide really know how to rock out. In some ways, it is equally good as Megadeth and Metallica in their heyday, perhaps even better. But there were some parts that were lacking a bit for me, where there was too much repetition or the vocals could have sounded more intense. Overall though, if you are seeking a new metal band to fall in love with, Black Tide could be just what you are looking for. They are definitely worth checking out. Rating: Date: 2008-06-09 Good Start These guys are good to be so young, but there was a lot of studio work performed to get that sound. The jury is still out on any future greatness. However, this CD rocks a lot better than most so called "metal" bands of late. They do have a lot of influence from early Metallica and Megadeth especially with their energy and guitar work. This album is better than anything Hetfield and the boys have put out since the Black album. This is the record Metallica should have made instead of "St. Anger". That being said, Black Tide is not the Greatest band of all time by any stretch. Buy it if you like 80's style metal. Rating: Date: 2008-06-02 First Rock I've heard in years. I can't write anything here that hasn't been covered by the other reviewers. These guys are amazingly talented and it's a fantastic album. Most of the songs on this album quickly found a place in my top 25 most listened to playlist. They rock! m/ Rating: Date: 2008-06-01 Gutter Loud Rock with an Attitude Black Tide is a four-piece from Florida who deliver exactly what heavy metal fans want. They play a type of gutter loud rock with an attitude. It's the type you just want to blast and drive 90 mph on the freeway (kind of like old Metallica). This Interscope Records debut starts out with the song "Shockwave", which lets you know what's to come: Thrashy guitar riffs with catchy choruses. And, of course, like all heavy metal bands, you have your fair share of guitar solos.
Some of the best tracks here are, "Live Fast, Die Young" and "Show Me The Way". Guitarist Alex Nunez is a stand out part of the band, with his fierce and fast fingers, especially on "Warriors Of Time". Singer Gabriel Garcia actually reminds me of Metallica's James Hetfield when he was young, raw and kickin' you know what. Black Tide even do a Metallica cover (a great job at it too) of the classic "Hit The Lights". |
