The texture was not what I expected
I was really thrown off by the smooth top. It looks so much like metal with an uneven surface, even when I had the package in my hands. It wasn't until I had opened it and felt the surface that I realized it's just some crazy material underneath the cover that gives off the dark reflections.
Really slick mouse though, I wanted a wired version of my MX900 bluetooth mouse, and this was the closest I could find. I'm not a gamer at all though, so the sensitivity buttons on either side of the scroll wheel are not very useful to me. Doesn't seem to be a way to change the functionality in OSX, at least not that I've found yet. Still, I''m very happy with it, beats the crap out of my old Mighty Mouse. Rating:

Logitech MX518 is the Best
I've used many different mice over the years, from Intellimouse Explorers to regular, generic mice with no frills. The MX518 is my absolute favorite. In fact, this is the second one I've purchased. I also have an MX500 that's still going strong.
The MX518 is comfortable, offers very tight control, works on many surfaces, is reliable and well made. It fits my hand perfectly and the shortcut buttons can be tied to a variety of different functions.
If you want to purchase a wired mouse, don't want to spend too much, and are right-handed, I highly recommend this mouse. Rating:

Good mouse, not the greatest quality
This is a very good gaming mouse which i really like. However the quality isnt that great. First a littlebit of the color wore off and it was blue, and its only been about 2 months. Then a couple of days ago the middle part where the wheel is, the rubber wore off and under it the hard black surface appeared, now i need to "rip" the rest off so it looks even and normal. Rating:

Versatile mouse, smooth operation
My new HP computer came with a generic mouse that was so noisy it drove me crazy! Since I've been using Logitech mice for many years, I decided to hunt for something similar to the MX500 which they no longer make. I was leery of the "Gaming" mouse, thinking I had to be "pro" to use it, but this mouse is just perfect. It has customizable buttons which I love (I do a lot of copying and pasting, very easy with one touch), and it fits my hand easily (even with my stubby fingers!). It is a corded mouse so there are no batteries to worry about, and it has a cool surface with unusual designs. Great mouse! Rating:

Great sensitivity but wheel doesn't last long
I've gone though about 3 of these mice now. I'm used to the perfect movement on them so I don't like to use other mice now but the wheels keeps dying on them. They dont stop working completely but over time the wheel takes like 5-10 rolls to register 1 roll, and usually in just 1 direction. I don't go crazy with the roller and my other crappy ms mouse handled my rollings well, it's definatly a weakness with this one. |
