Not for the narrow of foot
I had plantar fascitis and looked at the MBTs as shoes that would not only provide a lot of cushioning but also promote better gait. I like my MBT sandals a lot, but none of the closed-toe MBTs work on my narrow foot, even though I worked with a fit professional at a good shoe store. I even tried to modify one pair by using thick socks and adding extra lace holes--no luck. Once, I was told that MBT would make a narrow-lasted version in the near future, but that was several years ago and they never did. So, if you have a narrow foot or narrow heel (or both), pass these by. Rating:

I can feel a difference!!
I can definately feel it the day after wearing these shoes- I really believe they work muscles that I don't usually work... and I regularly run- not in these shoes of course. They are easy to walk in- very comfortable way of walking. I do find this particular style to not be very breathable- they are thick and pretty warm to wear. My other issue with them is sizing. I wear a size 6- often size 6 is roomy. I ordered a 6 in these, and they are tiny. I probably should have exchanged them but did not. I had tried on another pair of MBTs at a store in a 6 and they were roomy, so not sure if this style is just small or if I got a strange pair... but that is a bummmer. Anyway, if price isn't an issue to you, I would recommend buying one of their newer styles- I hear they are more breathable. But I do like these, especially since they were considerably less money than the newest ones. Rating:

not bad
I wanted to get these because I'm pregnant and can not do alot of the activities I did pre-pregnancy. While I don't wear them all that often [mostly on walks with the dog or in the park, and sometimes to the grocery store] I have to say I am impressed. They do stabilize my leg muscles but also work my core [especially on hills]. I'm sure they'll be a staple this summer while my belly continues to grow and the weather gets warmer. They're also a lot of fun once you get used to them. Rating:

I love these shoes
This is my third pair of MBT shoes. I have 2 pair that I alternate for my 12 hour shifts as a nurse. I tried another pair of shoes to go for a walk with my daughter on my night off and had shin splints within 2 blocks. So, back to Amazon I went and ordered this pair. No more shin splints on my walks. They not only prevent problems, they make my legs feel better when they hurt. I admit they are pricey, but I'm about to get rid of my birkenstocks and wear these exclusively!! Rating:

Love the shoe, but beware of expecting feedback from MBT
I love my MBT Lifestyle shoes, however, working with MBT is a drag. I kept my shoes in the box for two months. Then on the Fourth of July, I entered and walked the 1/3 marathon in Crested Butte, CO. That was brave, if not dumb, but the shoes were awesome, and I had no recovery period. Then I started wearing the shoes regularly for walking because I was so encouraged by my first experiece. After two months of wear, the shoes started coming apart. I contacted MBT via their online-email service over six times, and they never responded. So keep in mind, that although the shoes are wonderful, that once you buy them and wear them, you own them. Take precautions so that they don't fall apart on you. Mine started wearing thin right where the heel fits in the back of the shoe. The mesh unraveled and the padding started falling out. This only happened in the right shoe and not the left shoe. No luck with MBT responding and giving me even some advise. I am now outside of the six month warranty window, so now I've resorted to using packaging tape to keep the shoes together. Now, I've noticed that the inside of the upper is falling apart as well.
So in summary, I wore the shoes for two months, and started having difficulty. After attempting to contact MBT, I put the shoes aside. After giving up on hearing from MBT, I started wearing the shoes again, and they're continuing to fall apart. I cannot tell you how much I wish I were one of the people whose shoes were lasting them for two years without hitch. I am not that person. |
