About Malibu Solar Lights and Light Kits Solar lighting is the safest and easiest kind of outdoor lighting to install. It provides sufficient light for entrances, walkways, steps, or to indicate the location of dark obstacles. Each light fixture features a solar collector panel that converts sunlight into electrical energy. This energy is stored in rechargeable batteries used to illuminate the fixture at night. The batteries recharge in direct sunlight and should not have to be replaced for at least three years. Most solar products use LED (Light Emitting Diodes) as a light source because of their low power consumption and long life. LEDs are not replaceable, but their life expectancy typically exceeds 25 years, running 10 hours every night. Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-05 These lights are very cool These lights are very cool. We used them for a party and then set them around the hot tub and they really do simulate a live flame very well. The solar charge appears to hold very well. I have only good things to say about them. Rating: Date: 2008-06-28 Really Good Lights for the Money I bought 6 of these lights (3 sets) after reading a lot of reviews on Amazon. They arrived yesterday (3 days earlier than I had anticipated) and I had them up in no time. The look terrific and like others have stated, it really does look like a real flame burning inside. I placed them around my pool and they look terrific. They are durable, and on their first night in my yard withstood a major thurndstorm with high winds. I would have given the torches 5 stars, but you have to really work to get them secured into the ground. I hammered the stakes in and had to really position them as they do have a tendency to lean if not properly placed in the ground. Rating: Date: 2008-06-18 These really work These are the first solar product I've purchased that really performs beyond my expectations (which was previously low). After having them for about 6 weeks, and buying 4 more sets to use in in my back yard, I'm really impressed with their form and function. They look very nice and their "fake" torch light flicker is most excellent. If they survive a few Arizona summers I'll be most happy; only time will tell how they handle the cruel elements. Rating: Date: 2008-06-10 solar tiki torch this product is great!!!! They are very realistic and fool everyone that sees them. very asthetic. no maintainence. they come on at dusk without fail and are off at day break. My daughters window is off the deck and she loves the soft flickering light. I love them. they bring such a great atmosphere to my yard and deck now. If they only repelled mosquitoes , i'd never leave the yard. the only down side ,and it is not a big deal is that the stakes they give you are useless and break instanly. I read a review before I got them and followed the advise given. Put 1"PVC pipe in the ground and put the torch post in that. It stablizes the torch and you can remove them when necessary. I used plastic ties for putting them on my deck and put a flower planter in front and it looks great. I get lots of compliments. My neighbor put them around her pool fencing and it looks great also. this is a great product you won't be sorry. Rating: Date: 2008-05-22 Cheap plastic-breaks easy-don't expect much This is a case where warning you that you get what you pay for doesn't even apply. These are not worth half what they charge. I say that because I bought the 2-pack and have only one working unit after 4 days. When I assembled them I went to push one into the soft muddy ground and the stake snapped off. Thankfully I had some rebar in the garage so I pushed a piece of that into the ground and slipped the plastic bamboo pole over this. Later that night a 10 mph breeze was blowing and the other stake broke off sending the light to the ground breaking it. Then two days later the other one snapped at the lowest joint just above the bottom section where the rebar was. So, I borrowed a section from the broken one and now I still have one working light. The lighting effect is great but the poles are just junk. If you must buy these plan on figuring out a different way to support them. |
