Product Description: This learning activity will tickle kids down to their toes! The sturdy wooden high-top sneaker is the perfect toy for kids to learn how to lace and tie, over and over again. Measures 8.5"H x 5.1"W x 3.6"D. Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-06 Melissa and Doug has done it again! Its funny how you take something like this, put it in front of a child that has been having difficulty learning to tie shoes and he learns in about 5 minutes. Amazing quality! Rating: Date: 2008-01-25 Great idea My daughter is almost 5 and got this for Christmas. I love the concept and hope that she will use it eventually. Right now, she and her 3 year old sister would rather take the string off (it comes off completely which I don't like) and tie it around their necks and pretend to be puppies. So, for now it is on top of our fridge. Rating: Date: 2008-01-12 Love this shoe!!! Finally! A well made, durable, wooden toy!!! I don't know who enjoys it more, my daughter or myself! It is refreshing to be able to purchase something that is simply made, without lights and computer chips and the need for batteries. A definate must have item! Rating: Date: 2007-10-04 Learning Tool This lace up sneaker is awesome. After I convinced my 4 year old he could not wear it, it has been a great learning tool. It is really good sized and easy to teach and practice on. Another quality Melissa and Doug product! Rating: Date: 2007-09-28 Good Idea a little late I bought this toy after the twins were already well into difficulties with tying their shoes. We had been struggling over and over again for months with no sucess on the shoe tying front. We had taught them song and different techniques, tried exploying nija tying methods to make them remeber, everythig to get shoe tying down, to no avail. Finally, I thought maybe this shoe would assist by providing a different angle for learning. This helped one of the boys by displaying a majr flaw in his tying and BINGO he's gotten it every sinnce and now the show is no good. The other twin is autistic so keeps trying to wearing the show while tying it, so this cuases a whole set of individual set of problems. The show is useful for showing him especially how show tying works but it still a foreign concepts.
The break down: For the average kid who's learning to tie their shoes buy this right away before they get it a clue and it becomes obsolete. FOr a special needs kids, this is a useful hands on tool if you can get them to stop trying to wear it. |
