The unit offers S.A.M.E. technology (Specific Area Message Encoding), which preprograms the device to receive only those warnings that apply to your local area--you can choose state, county, and/or nearby counties. The single-speaker radio offers 30 programmable county codes, AM/FM tuning, date, time, alarm functions, and even auto switch from AM/FM to pertinent all-hazard alerts.

For tuning, the radio employs drift-free PLL (phase-lock loop) technology and an easy-to-read blue, backlit LCD. You get a convenient, 10-alert memory, and you can add, edit, and remove unwanted alerts at any time. The radio uses the supplied AC power adapter or four AA Batteries (not included).

Midland WR-300 best price and works great!
It has been over a month since I began using this weather radio. I had an old midland radio, which still works, but wanted the different features this has. I am not disappointed at all. I feel a lot safer when sleeping knowing this is ready to alert me incase the weather gets really bad. I really like the text scrolling across the screen also. I looked everywhere and couldn't find a better deal on the price then this. If you are debating on getting this, I would say, don't hesitate any longer! This wasn't in stores yet, only on the internet.

Wonderful Emergency Radio
I bought this radio because of the necessity for awareness when the power goes out. My home has a spot on the grid that makes for regular power outages when storms go through, so being aware of further weather problems immediately becomes necessary.
With multiple weather channels and the S.A.M.E. technology, you are not likely to be left in the dark for information with this radio. The tuning has worked well so far, and it is worth noting that the radio can constantly monitor for alerts by remaining in a standby state.
This radio is another product that Midland can be proud of, and I definitely recommend it.

this noaa radio is great for every home.the alarm goes off everytime there,s severe weather in your area or other locations that you choose.no home should be without one.this could be a life saver.this is a five star rating.

Does exactly what I bought if for. Alerts us to severe weather for our county as well as neighboring counties. Handy enough to take on the boat also.
