Product Description: Sleek Aluminum Design, easy to use Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayer by Misto. Amazon.com Review: For spreading olive oil evenly on bruschetta, focaccia, and grilled or roasted vegetables, and for spraying muffin and cake pans with vegetable oil, this dispenser is a nifty tool. A plastic cap underneath the sprayer's top twists off so the sprayer can be half-filled (1/3 cup) with oil. Inside the top is a plastic tube that fits over the spray nozzle. Push the top up and down to pump air pressure into the canister. Then spray for 10 seconds and pump up again. It's simple, ingenious, and practical. With its cap on, the sprayer stands just 7-5/8 inches high, so it tucks away easily on any countertop. Made of satin-finish aluminum with a black-band accent, it's sleek as well as utilitarian. --Fred Brack Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-06 Mister Misto Review The Misto oil sprayer is an essential in my kitchen. Sometimes it mists, sometimes it squirts a tiny stream of oil. In either case, it adds just a tiny bit of oil to a cookie sheet to keep asparagus from sticking while roasting, or to keep fish moist while roasting or broiling. Also great in a nonstick skillet when you want to use just a little bit of oil to cover the whole cooking surface. The sprayer mechanism doesn't last forever, however. Lasts longer if you don't overfill it.

Well after ten years and the thousands of times I've used mine I think it is time for a review... wink, wink.
The product works.
I have found that the lighter weight oils work best.
Yes all the comments about bringing it up to full pressure for getting a fine mist apply. After my first couple of months use I found that I got a stream rather than a spray. I suspected oil buildup and I was right. Cleaning the MISTO on the inside fixes the misting problem. Now time for my two secrets how to clean the MISTO and how to keep the MISTO Misting forever.
Cleaning: Simple the MISTO can be cleaned with dishsoap... Plus it can be pulled apart so that you can clean the four basic parts separately... To clean the inside run alcohol through the unit... I used EVERCLEAR 100% grain alcohol... Make sure to use food grade alcohol.
Tip: #2 Mix oil and alcohol 50/50 to keep your unit misting... Shake before each use... :)
Have a great day.
Rating: Date: 2008-06-30 Love the Misto sprayer! If you're looking for a good looking, well sized sprayer for your olive oil, look no farther. The Misto brushed aluminum olive oil sprayer looks great and sprays a perfect fine mist to keep your food looking and tasting the same way. Bon appetit. Rating: Date: 2008-06-28 loved it I am so glad I got this, saves on the amount of olive oil I use. Yes does take a bit of pumping but still well worth the money. Rating: Date: 2008-06-25 Works just fine - pumping takes time! I've had no problem with this sprayer, puming it till it's pumped completely will give you more than a few seconds worth of spray. I have to push the button down completely for it to spray a spray and not a stream. I have not had any clogs and I don't use it that frequently, so you'd think it would clog up on me if it were going to. In fact, I have to dump the oil and replace now and then, since extra virgin olive oil is not particularly shelf stable. I'd buy it again - in fact, I'm sending it to my sister-in-law as a gift. |
