Sliced bread is still out in front
Not a technological breakthrough but lighter and more practical than some book lights I've gone through. Not enough light for musicians (at least not for piano players and instrumentalists whose scores spread to 2 pages or more) but therefore not enough to disturb your partner.

The pluses:

1. It's lighter than many.
2. The gooseneck design is very maneuverable and flexible.
3. The location of the switch (on the light itself instead of the base) makes it more accessible.

The non-pluses:

1. Primarily useful for hard-cover books. Magazines and most paperback books are too much of a hassle--all the more so for compulsive underliners and annotators. The stiff, overly large clip is partially the culprit.
2. Requires 3 AAAs. If Sony can construct a CD player that gets longer running time out of a single AA battery than most players do out of 3, why can't a booklight-maker do the same? (At least get it down to 2--I have yet to see a triple-pack of batteries at Walgreens.)
3. The slider on-off switch would be less disruptive, more user-friendly if it were a simple push button.

The Unknown: durability. Not foldable. Will it survive being tossed in a music/book bag? Being rolled on by a reader-turned-sleeper?

The Unremarkable: the price. Ten would be nice; anything more than fifteen might be cause to try a candle.

Good but could be better
This light worked well when there was no background light. I like to keep my bedroom light off late in the evening so that my young children think I am asleep and I get some grown up time. The first night I used it I was disappointed with the brightness of the light. My husband was using the computer in the same room I was reading in and the light from the PC monitor overpowered the booklight. The next night I used the light while my husband was sleeping and it was great as long as it was completely dark in the room. I had never been so pleased. Although I think this product could use some more work, I really think it was worth what I paid for it.

Best book light yet
I've bought many booklights. This one is the first that is bright enough, light enough, and easy enough to direct right on the page.

Not very good
Great for reading if it will work. Switch is bad and light will not turn on and stay on without constant fussing. Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

Very Nice!
Great item! Perfect for whatever you need that requires a "light" bit of light. Not as powerful amount of light you would think, but does the job!
