works with pc sound card
After reading the comments about the mic only working with recorders that provide power to the mic, when I at first tried it with my pc as the recording device and it didn't work I thought that was that. On a whim I plugged it in using the included stereo adapter and then it worked great. Rating:

Kind of a crapshoot
The TP7 I recieved from Adorama Camera didn't function and Adorama didn't seem to care much, so good luck with this earpiece. You pays your money and you takes your chances.
I had better luck just turning an "open air" earbud around to face into the phone's earpiece, holding it in place with a rubber band and getting completely buzz-free recording. Rating:

Seems complicated
I haven't used it because it seems too complicated. To use this device you have to put it in your ear. Usually I already have a blue tooth ear piece in my ear. I was hoping for a recording device that would hook to the phone base somehow. Rating:

What took them so long to come up with this?
After having struggled with every other design of telephone recording microphone, including the awful suction cup design (never sticks long enough to be useful, plus terrible sound quality all around) and the type that plug into the actual line between a corded phone handset and the dial pad), I finally discovered this device and I am enamored with the simplicity and effectiveness of its design. First, it is so comfortable that I often forget I am wearing it. Secondly, it records even better than my previous technique of aiming a shotgun mike at a conference phone, without compromising my in-call experience at all. Thirdly, although, as another reviewer mentioned, it does not record in stereo, I can imagine any applications (at least that apply to my work) where that feature might be useful. This is a high-quality piece of gear and it is at an affordable price. I've paid far more and received far less from competing products.
By the way, for the tech-curious, I am using the Sony Professional Portable 24-bit Linear Audio Recorder, which enables me to monitor my sound quality and to adjust as necessary. Other recorders with similar capabilities should perform equally as well. All of my problems with recording calls, whether on cell phone or landline, have been solved. Thanks, Olympus! |
