Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-06-26 A very cool water 'bottle' These things are pretty cool. The first time someone sees it they make some remark like, "wtf, why are you drinking from a bag?!" but after a short explanation of its merits they're asking where they can buy one.
The thing stands upright even when almost totally empty. The water is tasteless. No bisphenol a. If you need to clean it then just pour some boiling water in it and let it sit. You can freeze it (I would leave the cap open to make sure it doesn't rupture). This thing will double as an icepack to keep things cold in you lunch box and provide you with a cool drink. You can use it as a hot bag for sore muscles. You can drink out of the 1 liter bag with one hand although it will take two hands to open the push/pull cap. When empty the bag will fit in your pocket, it's not super comfy but it will go. It will definitely fit in a tight space in a backpack or purse. My wife loves it because when full it is still flexible and can be stuffed in her purse where a hard water bottle just won't go. I think the only criticism I can levy against it is that it won't fit in a cup holder but if the cap is on securely then it doesn't need to.
I have yet to experience a leak. Make sure the snap cap is *all the way closed* and twisted on securely. A review at slate.com said it looked like a colostomy bag - funny and probably true. Nonetheless, this bag is very 'neato'. Rating: Date: 2008-05-15 platypus is convenient This item is easy to take with you on a vacation. There is one drawback. It is difficult to carry. I would like a case with it that keeps it insulated and has a strap. There may be one but I am not familiar with it. Rating: Date: 2007-11-29 A Must Have
As an international flight attendant I take this on all my flights.
I have had one of these for about 10 or plus years. I have used it heavily. It is worn out now, and I am ready for another one.
Travel tip:
If you are cold at the hotel you can fill it with hot water for your bed. Just wrap a towel around it if it is too hot.
This thing is sweet. Rating: Date: 2007-11-05 Very convenient Very happy with the product. I keep it in my purse and fill it up in the airport after passing security check. Takes very little space when empty,
and generally a convenient bottle. Rating: Date: 2007-10-28 platypus 1.0 liter bottle Hate for little children to have to drink out of containers that add not-good substances to the water. Platypus containers impart no taste, and the water keeps for days without getting nasty. Good stuff. Definitely need the push-pull top instead of the screw-top. Kind of big for the pocket, but holds a lot. |
