The Atrium 45 speakers have a wide dispersion pattern, and they're very efficient, operating on as little as 10 watts per channel. They're designed to deliver good sound quality across a large listening area, but Polk recommends multiple-pair setups if you want high sound levels in an outdoor setting, as sound tends to dissipate more quickly outdoors than in.

The speakers' white finish is paintable to match your decor or trim color--you can even paint them green to blend with foliage. Their sculpted front baffle and rounded enclosures minimize diffraction (sound reflecting off of hard edges) for more open and lifelike imaging, and their rustproof aluminum grilles offer 55 percent open area for better high-frequency response than speakers with denser grilles.

Sealed-enclosure (acoustic suspension) cabinets result in taut bass, and the speakers' 2-way design incorporates a 4.5-inch long-throw polymer cone driver with butyl-rubber suspension and a .75-inch dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet to broadly distribute high frequencies. Gold-plated, 5-way binding post terminals will never corrode. The plugs also allow hookups in a range of methods, including convenient banana-plug-terminated speaker cable.

The Atrium 45 meets or exceeds ASTM D5894-UV Salt Fog, Mil standard 810 Immersion and Mil standard 883 Method 1009 8 for salt and corrosion tests.

For the price Excellent
I bought these speakers in 2007 and have had them attached to the outer wall of our cabana by the pool. The quality of sound is good. There is no "pounding" bass from 20 feet BUT within 10 you can hear and feel bass. What I am really impressed with is being from Northern NYS and the weathering these speakers have taken. 50 degrees in early April to 30's at night to July high 80's and they sound the same! The speakers have been exposed to rain, sleet and sun and continue to perform better than I expected. I would definitely buy again.

Great value.
I'm very pleased with the sound quality from these speakers. The price is great too. Much lower than I found at Circuit City/Best Buy. The construction is nice also.....sturdy/durable. Installation and connection was very simple.

Polk Audio Atrium 45 Speakers
They have much richer sound than the Yamahas they replaced. Let's see how long they hold up under the eaves of the house.

Another Quality Polk Product
These speakers are a great addition to our outdoor patio. They have great sound quality and good bass output. They are priced very reasonably and are constructed extremely well. I would recommend these or any Polk Atrium speaker to anyone considering adding sound to their outdoor experience!

Deck Blaster Deal
These speakers had nice separation and spatial presence, and good mid to high frequency response. They did need a bass boost to bring up the low end, give them some power and they will rock your outside world. Only had them for a month, so I can't say how well they hold up over the long haul. They sounded so good, I bought a second set as back-ups. Highly recommended and one heck of a deal at $75 a pair!
