Product Description: Naming Led Zeppelin, Tina Turner, and Joe Cocker as primary influences, Cotton not only sings with a tone that's warm, buttery, and sexual, she pierces the sky with rock shouts, screams, and cries. Danielia is a force of nature to be reckoned with, and the sheer joy and pain she evokes in her songs draws the listener in instantly and completely. Not unlike male rock counterparts Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone or crossover icons Mavis Staples and Tina Turner, Cotton is quite comfortable being a black rock goddess. Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-06-30 Incredible vocals...finally a true artist Danielia Cotton is a awesome singer/songwriter! Her lyrics are raw and real! She is amazing. Rating: Date: 2008-06-26 Extraordinary Seen her live for free when she was toruing promoting her first album. One of those few singers that can give you chills or bring a tear to your eye. Just outstanding, and not the same run of the mill sound. Rating: Date: 2008-06-24 Daniela Cotton - Great Style Daniella Cotton has a unique style - a blend of rock that is a style all her own. Nice music. Highly recommended! Rating: Date: 2008-06-20 A real talent Proving that Small White Town is no fluke, Rare Child is a great effort by a great artist. A few of the songs here have a softer sound but the rock sound is still very much heard. Maybe not as hard rocking as her concerts but still this isn't soft and folky.
All the songs are worthwhile and that is surely the sign of a first rate work. One wishes that there was more than 10 songs and 39 minutes here but what is here is just right. Here's hoping this finds an audience. Rating: Date: 2008-06-19 less than what I expected I heard an interview with her on NPR and liked the song used, thinking the whole album had that softer acoustical sound. It didn't. I was disappointed with the album, but don't go by me, unless you too are stuck in the 60s. If you like music made after 1980 this is an OK album. (was there any good music written after 1975?) |
