long lasting universal
I really like my universal battery charger.
It has great uses for all of my remote controls.
I can also use it for my flashlight and other things.
It is definitely universal.

Big and heavy, but very useful
After my Sanyo charger died, I needed something to charge my Eneloop batteries. I love that this charger can charge different brands of batteries (not just Rayovac), and that it can charge batteries of different sizes at the same time. It takes a long time to charge, but it does a good job. I've stocked up on more rechargeable batteries since purchasing this because the batteries seem to last longer now and it just seemed worth the expense to buy more rechargeables. This charger is very big and very heavy, which is the one drawback. I used to bring my old charger along when I went on trips so that I could recharge my camera's batteries. I won't be doing that with this one.

Red Charging Lights Don't Stay On - Not Charging Batteries
Like others, I experienced the red charging lights not staying on. To me, this indicates that the batteries are not being charged. I have to adjust the batteries and charger every 15 minutes to keep it going. This is very frustrating. For this reason I would not recommend this charger.

Works great!
Can charge NiCad, NiMH, and "Rechargeable Alkaline" batteries. Autodetects battery type. Also recharges any normal cheap Alkaline batteries (specified as not rechargeable by manufacturers), don't try Duracell as they aren't sealed well and will leak. I'm planning to get an extra one for the College kid.

Caveat: make sure the batteries make good contact after putting into the charger (e.g. roll them forth and back a little).

slow but it works
A cheap alternative to buying batteries all the time. It works. Plain and simple. Could be faster, over night at best.
