Don't buy this product.
Basically, it is black butcher paper with adhesive tape on one end. It does not work well (lets light in) and is a rip off. Rating:

Wonderful Redi Shades
I have allergies and have used Redi Shades for over 4 years, have used the cordless and the ones with the cord. I like the cordless best. The are easy to cut and easy to hang.
On windows that get usage and because I live in the south, (Hot here) sometimes the tape at the top of the blinds gradually come loose, so I just take a small piece of duct tape and place on center and corners when I first put up, then it doesn't make any difference how hot it gets, it won't come loose.
They are wonderful temporary shades, gives your room a nice look from the outside and you can replace as often as the dust requires. I would never go back to using regular blinds after using Redi Shades. In addition, the price is very reasonable.
Try them, you will not be disappointed.
If you are wanting to truly darken your room, take a white garbage bag and tape it across your window (so it looks okay from the outside). Cover with Expensive Dark Green Garbage bags (they are darker than cheap) (hang long across, use tape if in apartment or use tacks if in your own place to secure them. Then so your room looks nice, hang your room darkening Redi Shade.
You room will be really dark. My husband said our bedroom is like a cave. LOL.

Why didn't I buy them earlier????
WOW! These are great. My room already feels cooler and looks much better. It took less than 10 minutes to install the blinds on two windows, and most of that time was removing the old plastic mini-blinds. I got the first one on and it looks great - on the second one I wasn't paying close enough attention and it's a bit crooked. Rating:

Better Than Expected
I've worked the midnight shift for 10 years. The entire 10 years has been one long process of trying to get a darker room for better sleep. I ordered these because of the price and they work like a charm. They are easy to install (just seconds if no cutting is required) and I have had no problems with them falling or tearing etc in the month or so that they've been up. My room has a total of three windows (one is very long)and it is as dark at 12 PM as it is at 12 AM. My only regret is that I waited this long to buy them. Rating:

work well for the price
these work really well for the price. I bought them to keep out heat and use them on a window on the west side of the house that gets blasted by the sun every afternoon (and thus the room gets very warm in the spring and summer). I put them underneath a decorative shade and it works well. Since they seemed to block out the light so much I put some of the others in a bedroom. I think if you measure and cut them carefully to fit the inside of the window frame they work well at keeping out light. |
