Being Creative Makes It A Better Shaver
I gave this shaver to my husband and he said it was a great shaver. Some have said the trimmer is not the best and to wide. He shaves with the trimmer out as it picks up those hard to cut whiskers. There is no pulling or scratching. He has a tough beard and it is shaved off to a smooth finish. So give it a try. Extend the trimmer and cut the shaving time needed for a close shave. The noise? What difference does it make if you get a good shave?

Could Remington Have Quality Control Issues With This Shaver?
I bought this shaver because (a) Consumer Reports designated it as a Best Buy (b) my own positive experience with the Remington CleanXchange and (c) the low price. Unfortunately, while the MS2-390 does deliver a close shave for me, it appears that the build quality of this model is suspect. The low battery light comes on after just the 3rd shave and I've begun to notice small facial nicks after each shave, possibly from the foil. I have never seen this from the CleanXChange and Braun foil shavers I also own. I know at least a couple of the other reviewers on Amazon have noted the same things happening with their shavers, so it's just not me having these issues. One gentleman on another forum has had Remington replace his shaver TWICE trying to get rid of the low battery light problem! It appears as if getting a reliable MS2-390 is just the luck of the draw right now. I have e-mailed Remington customer service about my concerns and will update my review if/when I receive a response.

Great Buy
I did a little researching on Consumer Reports before I purchased this gift and according to CR, the Remington MS2-390 microscreen 500 came in #1 for best buy and # 2 for best product. My husband loves it.

Good Value Electric Shaver/Razor
This Remington electric shaver just recently received a very good rating by a well known product evaluation magazine. I was looking for a less expensive but equal quality replacement for my deteriorating Braun electric shaver. This Remington model's performance is equal to that of my Braun - at 1/3 the cost! If you buy, be sure to get this specific model Remingtom. Within any company's product lines there can be and are great differences in quality and performance between similar looking but different models.

A Disappointment
The Remington MS3-2000 has been my favorite razor for years. I have owned 2 of these, and refitted them with new cutters and screens for years, which restores it's performance to almost like new. Unfortunately, when the batteries get old and no longer hold a decent charge, your only option is to buy a new razor since the batteries cannot be replaced. It was a crushing blow to find out the MS3-2000 was no longer manufactured. So I bought this MS2-390 because it looked (on paper) like a suitable replacement. Wrong! Cannot get the same close shave, hairs get pulled, the pop-up does not cut as well, and the red light (low charge) comes on every 3 days despite following the charging instructions exactly. It's very disappointing for a leading razor manufacturer like Remington to drop a great product and peddle this poor imitation of a quality razor. I cannot recommend it.
