Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-06 Useless Both units showed power but were dead on arrival. Using a new clean install with Win XP. Bought 2 I Rocks units for a few dollars more plugged them into the same system and they operated (and still are) very smooth. Listen to the reviews (I did not) Sabrent is not worth your time.
**** Amazons return policy is great !! You cannot ask for any better response than I received !!! **** Rating: Date: 2008-06-29 Satisfied!! This product is everything I required. Setup was approx 7 minutes and it worked perfectly the first time. Beautiful. Rating: Date: 2008-06-25 Great I had an old hard drive and all my new computers are serial ATA. I bought this so I could access the information I had on the drive and have an extra portable drive. Very happy with it. Rating: Date: 2008-06-17 Good, for the price I just bought this item and got it up and running without much problem. It started right up after I set a hard drive to master and plugged everything in. I do have some issues I want to tell other potential buyers about though.
1) The screws provided to keep the back end of the enclosure in place are just barely long enough to do the job, so it's very tricky to get both screws in tight.
2) Also, the case offers no way to secure the hard drive in place, so the drive shifts around when you move it.
3) This is a rather minor, but I don't like how the activity light is in the back instead of the front as most other external hard drives.
I still rate this product four stars because it is much cheaper than competing products. Factoring in the price, I am satisfied with what I got. Rating: Date: 2008-06-11 Drive doesn't fit, unreliable system. The engineer who designed this case did not account for the connectors + cable thickness. My drive would not fit inside and still let the thing close. I dealt with it by using some masking tape around the gap for a while.
Then my computer kept losing the connection. I would get constant errors, and iTunes was having fits. I though my hard drive was bad. But I put it into another enclosure and it worked. Which means this thing was not only mechanically bad, it was electrically bad too.
