Product Description: Since the death of her husband, Anne Dunne and her three children have struggled in every way. In a last ditch effort to save the family, Anne plans an elaborate sailing vacation to bring everyone together once again. But only an hour out of port, everything is going wrong. The teenage daughter, Carrie, is planning to drown herself. The teenage son, Mark, is high on drugs and ten-year-old Ernie is nearly catatonic. This is the worst vacation ever. Anne manages to pull things together bit by bit, but just as they begin feeling like a family again, something catastrophic happens. Survival may be the least of their concerns. Written with the blistering pace and shocking twists that only James Patterson can master, SAIL takes "Lost" and "Survivor" to a new level of terror.
Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-08 Better than I thought I almost passed this book up because of the negative responses it got when it came out, but I'm very glad I read it anyway. I really enjoyed the twists the novel took and it stuck with the general idea of the woman wanting to get closer to her kids, although, a tough way to do it. I try to read a story with no expectations and if it keeps me reading to the end it's at least a four star read. The only reason I didn't give it a five star is because I felt it was a bit far fetched at times and was a bit chopped up , like going from an island one chapter to being in court the next. Rating: Date: 2008-07-07 Sail I love James Patterson Books and I really enjoyed this one also. I can't wait till his next book comes out. Rating: Date: 2008-07-07 Uninspired This is the first James Patterson book that I have read and I doubt I will read another. It was uninspired and predictable. The protagonist characters where unlikeable. The only character who was remotely interesting was the minor role of a DEA agent. The book was also written from inconsistent points of view without any indication that you were suddenly inside another persons head or at least not in the head of the main character. Rating: Date: 2008-07-07 It was a fast read for the July 4th weekend This was a good book to read while I was sitting on the dock at our lake house watching the boats go by.
No real surprises in the plot but a good summer read. Rating: Date: 2008-07-06 Just plain fun and fear in equal parts Jan Dynes the author of Refraction recommended this book. I enjoyed it from start to finish. Like Jan I am a sailor and few books take you to sea. This one did and was a good plot. |
