Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-06 nice hard drive This hard drive is made of plastic, and has two lights inside the circle on top. They don't look to nice.
Regardless of looks though, the hard drive works very nicely. The usb cable it comes with even has an additional plug for extra power for transferring large files, etc. It is very quiet and very light. I don't know how well it would take a fall though...but I don't want to find out either. Rating: Date: 2008-05-28 does everything it should Quick easy way to add storage space to your pc.
Other than the long format due to the size, its painless.
-easy hook up
-very small form factor Rating: Date: 2008-05-22 Missing software I ordered the Simpletech SP-U25/250L 250 GB external hard drive primarily to back up my music and pictures. Amazon got it to me very quickly. Both the Amazon site and the SimpleTech site clearly state this comes with software CD (StorageSync). No CD was included with mine, and when I contacted SimpleTech and I was told there was no CD and the software was preloaded onto device. Nope, no software on the device. After several communications with them I was finally sent the CD, but the process was a bit frustrating and their customer service was terrible. Having said that, the device works just fine. Transfer rate is pretty fast, and the software lets you do incremental or full back ups. Rating: Date: 2008-05-04 Good HD, but has some issues I got this external hard drive to store all my pictures on. I didn't want one that had a plug into a power outlet. I thought that this would be a good one, since it was small, but the problem is it takes 2 USB ports to run the HD since it doesn't use a power source. The other issue I had was that it works fine using Windows. However, trying to use it in Linux I had some issues. Probably they could have been resolved, but the Western Digital HD I have just works with no issues, what so ever.
So if you don't mind using two of your USB ports, and you are running Windows, this is a fine external hd. If I had to do it over, I would not buy this brand for me. Rating: Date: 2008-05-04 Good device for its price I was looking for a portable device that is capable of storing all my videos, cartoons, university work, and even programming projects in it. When I saw this product with a cheap price I decided to give it a try and found out that it worthed every penny I paid for!!! It did store all my files and what I needed in it. I now no longer have to worry about saving files on CD's and have a hard time organizing them. I would strongly recommend this product for anyone who loves to keep his files with him 24/7 and on the go.
