Great Learning Remote
I bought this remote because I have a SONY TV and a SONY DVD/VCR combo. Being that it is also a SONY, I though that it would communicate seamlessly with both. It didn't. Having said that, I am glad I bough it.

The downs: It communicates seamlessly with my SONY TV (even the device button turns it on without having to press POWER) but the combo is another story. It seems that (and I checked this online) this "universal" remote (although from SONY) DOES NOT have their own combos in its memory! So no matter what you do, you can't find a code for any combo, even SONY.

The Ups: I forgot to mention - this remote CAN LEARN; and there are no limits to how many functions. To work your combo, all you have to do is (with the original OEM remote) teach this one all the needed functions. You can do this from the DVD as well as the VHS device function. Don't listen to people that say this cant be done! I did this and I couldn't be happier. When I buy a converter box and other stuff in the future, it will certainly come in handy.

P.S. There are also four special buttons that can be taught up to 16 functions (in a row) each! One of mine works for the TV menu (it does MENU, RIGHT, RIGHT, DOWN, RIGHT, DOWN, DOWN, MENU.)

Does what it's supposed to do.
I'm pleased with this remote -- it replaces Sony's top-of-the-line computer-programmable unit that I could no longer use because Sony refuses to update it to work with Vista.

So far as I can tell, this unit does everything it's supposed to do. If I had to quibble, I'd say that the transport buttons (play, stop pause, etc.) are too small.

Great Value
Very good value. I wish it had a button for off and on instead of power. My HK receiver needs an off code. I have made it work with another button but it isn't quite as nice. Othewise, I would have given 5 stars.

Perfect
I looked all over for a universal remote. I finally found this one. My older equipment could not be programed so this one is a learner. If you have the older DirecTV Tivo this is the one for you. The learner is quick and easy. You cant beat it for the money.

Great product, excellent value
Easy to set up, works well with everything...even my A/C unit! The learning function on this remote is excellent. For less than $20, this is the best value multifunction remote out there, bar none!
