About Stanley's Illumination Tools
Stanley makes a wide assortment of lights for use in your workshop, garage, or job site -- with tripods, angled heads, and brilliant bulbs to illuminate even the darkest corners.

About the MaxLife 369
Stanley's MaxLife 369 flashlight has an innovative tripod design that offers hands-free convenience in all kinds of settings. Use it in the garage to see deep inside a car, or use it in the attic for a bit of awkward home improvement -- this light is always up to the job, and it never slips, slides, or topples.

But the MaxLife 369's weather-resistant anodized aluminum space frame construction make it ideal for more than just indoor applications; it's also great for camping, or as an emergency back-up light. Durable, rugged, and ready to take a beating, the MaxLife 369 never quits or shatters. The multi-position head focuses light exactly where you need it, and you can expect a runtime of well over 200 hours on just nine AA batteries. The simple four-position switch lets you control the brightness, and the low-power indicator will give you a heads-up before the light goes out, so you're never caught alone in the dark.

Key Technical Specs:

  • 4-position switch: low, medium, high, or off
  • Runtime: over 200 hours with 9 AA batteries
  • Multi-position head
  • Runs on 3, 6, or 9 AA batteries (not included)

Applications
Because the MaxLife 369 is so tough, it's great for almost any low-light situation. Set it up while you work in a dark corner of the garage or basement, throw it into your backpack before a camping trip, or leave it in the car in case of emergency.

Warranty
Stanley covers this exceptional product with a limited lifetime warranty.

came pre-broke! legs don't close well
The legs don't close into the central rubber piece. There is a small knob that I assume (no instructions)is meant to be pulled, to allow the legs to fold in. However, the knob just falls out and its clearly not attached to the spring-loaded piece at the joint of the legs. Have to pry your finger into the tiny space and push the piece up manually. Even still, the legs don't stay in the central piece so it never securely closes. The concept would be great if it would only work. Stanley customer service was not available. So I have to mail it back.

Not worthless - but not great
I wouldn't go so far as to call it worthless, but I don't recommend it. It is very prone to accidental activation. I had to tape a plastic cover over the on/off switch to keep it from turning itself on while rolling around in my car's trunk. The head doesn't stay in the position I set it. It uses way too many batteries for the amount of light it throws.

Instead of getting this tripod light, buy a Petzl headlamp. Here's why - I had to change a flat tire in a dark parking lot. My body was always between the wheel and the tripod light. I ended up holding a pocket flashlight between my teeth, so I could see what i was doing. If I'd had a headlamp, it would have been a breeze, instead of an ordeal.

Mixed feelings...
I don't know where to start. This flashlights looks like a genious design idea. It can transform from a regular handheld to a "tripod mounted" light. It uses a very large number of batteries, like 6 or 9, the legs are tubes inside which the batteries go. The legs are held together in "handheld mode" position by a medium to weak magnet. Just strong enough that the whole thing stays together, but you could shake it and the legs would easily move away from the magnet and start "hanging". It really does what it is supposed to, and has very long battery life and a few different brightness levels.

Here is what i don't like about it, the beautiful and smart design is not matched by the build quality, which is slightly below average. And the light is not that bright given the current standards of blindingly bright LED flashlights. Finally, in some of the less-than-full-brightness settings, it uses some of the batteries while leaving the others unused. This leads to uneven battery wear. this is a bad design idea as it wastes batteries. However, you will almost never run a light light this at any power setting other than the maximum, because it is not that bright.

Bottom line: This flashlight is not the one I use the most. Most of the time I rather use a head-worn light which is the most convenient. While camping I have used this light to illuminate our camp area enough that you can have a good idea of your surroundings, and no other flashlight can easily match the convenience of transforming like that. During late night car repairs I have used it to supplement a head worn light. But that's about it. I would probably not buy this again... or maybe I would, I am, honestly, on the fence about this light.

A STAND UP LIGHT
I gave this light to my husband for Christmas - he is a engineering, home fix it - car fix it kind of guy and owns many lights for various products. He LOVED this - the swivel feature, the tripod feature and the LED aspect - I was a hero with this gift! Highly recommended for all of its features. Well made and looks great. Neat Gadget
This is pretty much an average flashlight, but uses long lasting LEDs and gives the user the option to load extra batteries into the "legs" for extended battery life. It takes BETWEEN 3 and 9 batteries depending how long you want it to last. Apparently the LEDs are low power usage because the battery rating is high in terms of usage time, and it hasnt dimmed on me at all yet. It's got 3 power settings, but I used it on high all the time. The plastic feels a little cheap, but the tripod does work. Again, for the money, it's great when you dont have someone to hold the flashlight in place!

Pros: Lightweight
Good battery life
fairly bright for it's size

Cons: Would like a stronger "feel"
The higher models have more LEDs, which means more light
