Amazon.com: Imagine a big-time punk-pop trio from the Oakland area deciding, for fun, to record a cool song that reminded them of ’60s garage rock—adventurous, reckless, and edgy but with a "doo-doo-doo" party sound. Imagine the lovechild of an unholy marriage between The Stooges and Tommy James And The Shondells. Imagine the track, "Mother Mary," leaking out and amazingly going Top 20 Modern Rock. Imagine the mysterious "new" band then deciding to release an EP for free on the Internet. Now imagine a full-length album—an actual album you can hold in your hands, just like way back before the dawn of the new millennium! Imagine Foxboro Hottubs and the album Stop Drop And Roll. Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-02 Foxboro Hot Tubs Green Day Rules !!! This just goes to show the talent these guys have to go from punk rock to garage rock and make it look so easy. By the way AWESOME show in New Orleans. I was front row and never saw a better show than that one. You guys RULE!!!! Rating: Date: 2008-06-29 Stop Drop and Pull Those Stick Out of Your Hindends Yeah it's Green Day. But no it's not. And while it only takes a quick glance at some reviewers to understand that shades of gray escape them, I gotta ask...why make such a big deal out of what is a one off, for their own fun, and hey some fans might like it too album? The songs are short, fast and fun, much like ice cream on a hot summer day. Take it for what it is. Rating: Date: 2008-06-24 No harm no foul This disc is rocking, noisy, garage-y, and most of all fun. That said, it makes no bones about its derivative intentions, including a (practically) note-for-note rewrite of (I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone. So, at the current price of $9.99 it's not much ventured, not much gained. Take it for what it is and let the party begin. Rating: Date: 2008-06-23 bonus cd? I just bought the LP but haven't opened it...I don't want it to get ruined. is the bonus CD in it? Like placed inside the records slip? and what is on it? My guess is the song that they got rid of, "Highway 1", that was on the free EP. Rating: Date: 2008-06-23 Surprisingly refreshing! After Green Day promised another album this year, I'd lowered my expectations. American Idiot wasn't as strong, in my opinion, as their older albums and Working Class Hero and The Saints Are Coming just weren't up to standard - they weren't fun enough. Then there was Foxboro Hottubs - incredible! Another The Network/Pinhead Gunpowder-style departure from the expectations attached to Green Day and it's absolutely amazing... the entire album reminds me of a mixture of 1,039 SOSH - Waiting era Green Day (especially some songs on the Waiting album, like Church On Sunday), The Kinks and a little bit of The Network. I definitely recommend it. |
