Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-07 Best value for the money After much research i bought this one & so far very happy with it. I weigh in at 195lbs and i'm 6'2" so i do need to bend my knees a little on the pull ups but aside buying an expensive commercial-type pull up bar, this one works just fine. I put the entire thing together in about an hour so i'd say set-up was easy as long as you follow the instructions. When doing pull-ups & dips, both which have the highest probability of 'rocking' the tower, i find this to be very stable and i'm happy with it. Rating: Date: 2008-06-27 Sturdy and easy to assemble Strength Trainer 3-Station Power Tower
I would have given this device 5 stars, but it was missing two nuts. When I first opened the box, I was surprised and impressed by how the hardware (bolts, nuts, and washers) were shrink wrapped to a single piece of cardboard that eliminated the need to sort through the various sizes. What I didn't notice was that the nylon locking nuts which were labeled with a quantity of 18 actually only contained 16. Despite having to run up to Home Depot to get the nuts, assembly was very easy.
I love doing the vertical knee raises for my abs and look forward to a little strength training with the dips and pull ups. The center support bar gets in the way of doing effective push ups.
Kudos to Amazon for getting the package to me so quickly...and with free shipping. It was delivered in under a week. Rating: Date: 2008-06-23 Very well built Does everything it advertises and it is sturdy but could use something to hold it down better from swaying. Rating: Date: 2008-05-28 Terrific value The product came as advertised. Very sturdy square steel tube framing came together very simply. The dimensions work great for most everyone in the family. Great product. Rating: Date: 2008-04-28 Well made... but not the best choice for heavy types The Power Tower is easy to put together (even though its directions are chary with the pictures) and it looks good for something that costs just over $100, but it's probably best for people under 220#. Doing speedy pull-ups has led at times to a tiny bit of rocking and the joins of the two main beams and crosspieces are loose enough that there's about 1" of play if you move from doing a dip to a pull-up. Shims?
Further, the closeness of the pull-up bar to the main beams leads to occasional contact with the back supporter during pull-ups. But only when "cheating" with extraneous lower-body movement... so maybe it's a good thing.
So I guess I recommend it. If you ever owned Atlas' old Power Tower you'll probably think this is a better product for the same in real dollars... for which we can thank increased Free Trade. |
