Fantastic looking toaster, But !!
This is one great looking toaster,in fact I constantly get complements from guests. The bagel feature works great,the defrost not so well.The main problem is with even toasting. If I put in 2 slices in on one side,it comes out uneaven. It could be dark on one part of the bread and light on the other,this could even be on one side of a slice. The worst is when you only put in one slice of toast,as I often do. One side comes out fairly dark,and the other bairly toasted.I did keep the toaster,even though I was on the verge of sending it back.As I said previously it looks great,also I did not want to go through the trouble of shipping it back. So I have to turn toast at times,could be worse. I found out this is a French product, that could be the problem.

Best toaster I've ever owned. Seriously.
It's the simple things as a consumer that give me the most satisfaction. This toaster does a beautiful job, with even, perfectly golden-brown results. I couldn't shut up for a week, telling my wife about how flawless my toast was and what a brilliant toaster researcher I am. It is a bit on the slow side. But that's the key to good toast! It's like slow-roasting chicken: you can't just crank up the dial on the grill and expect great results. You have to do it with love, man!! I'm not sure why one or two others reported any difficulty. Maybe a random bad unit or failure to read the directions? At any rate, as the consensus shows, you'll probably be as geeked-up as I am about a silly toaster.

I have owned this T-Fal model for over 2 years and decided to finally replace it with one that works better. From day 1 the problem has been exactly the same as everyone else has stated, and not only for this model, but it seems for every brand and model I've checked via these opinions. It WILL NOT toast evenly, and is very slow. The darkness control shows settings of 1 thru 5, but in fact the 1 setting means warm bread while the 5 setting will give you light to medium brown toast, but even then,only sometimes. Other than raw or partially toasted bread the darkness control has no effect on the end result.
A toaster must be the least possible technical product on the market, a wire which heats up, and a timer to set how long it heats up. Why this can't be done consistently is beyond me (truly). Since all negative comments reflect these same 2 problems, I am inclined to believe one of the previous opinion's stating its just luck if you get one that consistly gives you a true range of toast settings in a timely fashion.
This seems to be a product where price has no effect on quality and I still don't no what to buy. Possibly the least expensive 2 slice toaster and if it works properly buy a second one.

The absolute best toaster we have ever used. After years of useing 2nd rate toasters, I finaly talked my wife into letting me buy a T-Fal. Now we have real toast that is not pale or burned. GREAT toaster and the browning level dial acctually works! Thank you!!
