I'm the type of fan that this compilation is meant for, to answer a prior posed question. I have OK Computer and In Rainbows, but no other Radiohead CDs. The music is great, and I heard songs that I liked from the past, but hadn't even registered in my head as being from Radiohead(such as Creep). This helps me catch up with the band.
Also...if you like this, you need to look out for Tom's brother's CD, coming out July 18. Andy Yorke fronted the band The Unbelievable Truth, and the couple of songs I've heard from the new release show that it promises to be outstanding. The solo CD will be called Simple. Rating: Date: 2008-06-28 best of radiohead.. just buy it..
you know you want to..
ghost Rating: Date: 2008-06-18 Uh- Yes and No I am completely bias- just thought I should come out and say that.
I have some issues with this complied 2disc collection...
1. Radiohead did not release this work
2. Radiohead did not pick the songs
3. Radiohead did not select the order of the songs.(this collections does not flow well at all- unlike their albums do)
4. Their albums were not equally represented
5. MAJOR/IMPORTANT SONGS ARE MISSING!!!
Although the songs jump around from album to album-decade to decade, this 2disc collection would be a good start for someone who is a new fan of radiohead to get a feel for the band. But if you don't have OK Computer- you need to get your hands on it whether or not you buy this cd- DO IT.
If you are already a radiohead snob (as you should be) this cd is a waste of time- and you (should) already have all of this music. Rating: Date: 2008-06-16 All the classics on one handy CD This is going to be an 'Indiana Jones 4' of on an album, you're either going to love it or hate it.
Its a great compilation of their best songs, the order is interesting, but any Radiohead fan will already have the majority of these tracks. Its just on one handy CD. For the newbies to Radiohead it's a great listen.
Yes, it's an EMI cash in since the band have left the label. All the classics are on disc one, the 2 Disc edition I would recommend, as it holds some of the more offbeat tracks and gives you more of a rounded impression of their music.
An alternative though would be to buy the Limited Edition Box Set and get them in all their glory, that's minus 'In Rainbows' mind.
This is getting 5 stars for the music. Rating: Date: 2008-06-16 Stop All The Whining........ I for one, always thought Radiohead stunk. I do own the CD "Kid A", so I know of them. But I thought this greatest hits CD was great because I can only hear their good songs instead of all the garbage inbetween. Besides I got the 2 CD set at a flea market for $2.50 and it was a good purchase for me, about 5 cents a song, which is about what their worth. |
