Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2007-05-23 my favorite tea This tea has the best taste. I like to drink it with muffins, deserts or alone in the afternoon.
The strong aroma of 'Irish Breakfast Tea' is good for any time of day. Rating: Date: 2006-08-17 REMINISCENT OF AN INCIDENT IN THE MIGHTY CHRONICLE OF DUBLIN The irrepressible medical student Malachai Mulligan recounts how two elderly ladies of Dublin at breakfast remarked upon the overwhelming power of the Irish Breakfast Tea.
The maker defended her offering, explaining, "when I make tea I make tea, and when I make water, I make water!"
The other hoped she would not make them within the one pot.
I live by this tea. Man does not live by bread alone, but by this mighty tea.
Buy it.
Rating: Date: 2006-03-06 A great morning tea from Twining Irish blend from Twining has a pleasing crisp taste, just a bit spicy, fragrant and hearty, not so robust as a Kenya, but much more than a gentle Darjeeling. If you have tried Twining's English Breakfast blend, you should expect this Irish Breakfast blend to be stronger and more complex in flavor, but with similar brewing properties.
You can buy Irish Breakfast blend either in teabags or as loose bulk tea. I strongly recommend the latter for greater flexibility, but the bags taste just as good -- no flavor that I can detect from the paper that Twining uses.
Twining produces some excellent teas, none better than this fine blend. It has my strongest recommendation. It is also available as a decaffeinated tea, with very much the same delightful taste. Rating: Date: 2006-01-20 Strong and full-flavored Twinings was founded in London, England in 1706, and has a long and respected tradition of producing only the finest of teas. Irish Breakfast tea is a mixture of Ceylon and Assam (black) teas, well-known for its strong, malty taste.
OK, let's get down to brass tacks - Irish Breakfast tea is not for everyone. There's an old Irish saying that says that a proper cup of tea should be "strong enough for a mouse to trot on," and this tea is certainly within striking distance of that target! But, if you add milk and sugar to this fine tea, you will be rewarded with a smooth and full-flavored drink.
Irish Breakfast tea is in a class by itself among the teas I have drunk, in that it comes closest to being like coffee - that is having a strong taste that gets you up and going in the morning. Not all teas will stand up to a proper breakfast, but this one will. Overall, I have found this to be a wonderfully interesting tea, strong and robust.
And that's my review. If you want a tea that will round out your hearty breakfast, then Irish Breakfast tea is for you. If you want tea from a great tea producer, them Twinings is for you. I highly recommend this hearty tea!
Rating: Date: 2005-02-04 The Emerald Island's Favorite Blend. Did you know that the Irish - *not* the English - are per capita the world's highest consumers of tea? No wonder, then, that there is a breakfast blend named for them; although Irish Breakfast is actually strong enough to be a great pick-me-up throughout the day. Traditionally, it consists primarily of teas from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and the state of Assam in northeastern India. Irish Breakfast has an intricately full-bodied, malty, floral aroma and goes particularly well with milk (or cream, but real milk is preferable). Enjoy! |
