Brushed steel housing and base UL/CUL approved Limited One Year Appliance Warranty Customer Reviews: Rating: Date: 2008-07-06 Good waffles while it lasts I've had it 18 months and used it sparingly, but with great delight, until yesterday. It made one good waffle; the second one burned because the timer didn't go off, and then it stopped heating. Appears to be the heating element. It's probably only been used 15-18 times. Rating: Date: 2008-07-05 Waring Pro WMK300 Belgian Waffle Maker We've tried 3 of these waffle makers since Jan 08. Each one made tasty waffles at the start, only to quit heating sufficiently after making less than 20 waffles. It is unfortunate, since if the durability was better it would be a very good product except for its size.
My husband insisted on trying a third time because he so liked the waffles. Not again. Three times and its out! Rating: Date: 2008-06-29 BUYER BEWARE - Stopped heating after 1st waffle! I read all the reviews here and decided to "roll the dice" and add this to our wedding registry. We used it this morning and it made one waffle very well, the second one wasn't so great and I realized that it was no longer heating up. Red ("orange") light comes on, but the green ready light never comes on now.
So as many other have said, there is some eletcrical problem in these units. Ours lasted 5 minutes or less, but others seems to have had better luck. Experiencing it first hand and knowing that it really is a problem and not a few random complaints being voiced loudly, I won't replace the unit with another one by Waring. We will try the more expensive KitchenAid model next. If Waring acknowledged the problem and came out with a replacement unit, I would reconsider based on price and the design (style) of the product. But previous post indicate that warratied units are breaking too, so Waring either isn't willing to stand behind their product or they are sourcing an inferior piece or have a poor design that is too expensive to fix. Whatever it is, it is a problem for the consumer.
BUYER BEWARE - THESE UNITS CAN FAIL QUICKLY!!! Rating: Date: 2008-06-28 It's a roll of the dice, buyer beware! We purchased this waffle maker based on the high average of the customer reviews. We did notice, however, that quite a few owners had problems with the units failing but we took a chance anyway and made the purchase. We used the waffle maker for a period of about 5-6 weeks and very much enjoyed the waffles produced by this unit. If I were rating it on the quality of the waffles it produces, I would give it 5 stars. Today, however, in the midst of making waffles for breakfast for a gathering of my daughter and her friends, the unit failed. The unit simply stopped heating up - the same problem experienced by so many others. In short, you will not be disappointed with the waffles produced, just know that you are rolling the dice as far as how long this unit will last before breaking down. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if we used the waffle maker for two or three years before it broke down, but like many others, ours failed within a very short period of time. Rating: Date: 2008-06-28 Excellent waffles but short life I received this unit as a Christmas gift from my daughter 18 months ago, and our family loved the waffles. I also liked the ease of use and consistent results. This week, it just stopped heating in the middle of making a waffle. As it was out of warranty, I took it apart to see what was wrong and this thing is a repairman's nightmare! I had power to the element wires, but no heat. I expected some sort of a brush mechanism for conducting electricity through the rotation, but the wires just twist back and forth and I suspect they finally worked hard and broke. After reading the numerous reviews with the exact same problem, it seems I got more out of mine than most people so instead of replacing it with the same model, I will be doing some research for a better waffle maker. |
