This is the same device they use at the YMCA for their swimming lessons, so it made it easier to transition to swimming at home. What is great about it is that as they progress in their swimming lessons, a piece can be removed. It helps you determine their level of swimming. I would recommend this to anyone with little ones learning to swim! Rating: Date: 2008-06-03 Works Great! I bought two of these for my two children after they were recommended by the local swimming instructor. I have a 3year old boy and 2 year old girl.We have our own pool so I want them to learn to swim right away. Up to this point in their short lives, they have used water wings but the swimming instructor said that doesn't really teach them to swim because they can float without any work. These bubbles do force them to kick, use their arms, and hold their heads up. We have used them a few times and I can already see that my 3yo is ready for me to remove one of the floats. The strap can slip down to their waist if it isn't tight enough around their ribs; they're meant to be worn higher on the back. My 2yo girl wears a one-piece bathing suit so the strap doesn't bother her at all. My 3yo boy, does start scratching a little from the strap. He says he doesn't mind and keeps right on playing and swimming, but I could put a piece of cloth under the strap. I don't want to put a shirt on him since it may weigh him down in the water. As fast as he has progressed to this point, it won't be much longer he has to tolerate it. I highly recommend these if you want your child to build confidence and learn to swim. I have not gotten the wings out at all since I don't want either to want them back on. You do have to be in the water with your child! Rating: Date: 2008-03-19 works well overall, but belt slips up on child We use these floats for swim class at the YMCA. Overall, they are easy to use and we like the fact that we can adjust the number of foam pads downward as our child's skill level improves. The kids feel extremely confident using this device. Finally, I have noticed that the belt, naturally, slides up on our child while in the water. This doesn't seem to bother our children, and is inevitable in the water, but I thought I would mention it. |
