Even making fried Chinese noodles with veggies doesn't stick. The pan has a nice weight and seems hardy. I highly recommend it! Rating: Date: 2008-04-13 beats all skillet Heats evenly, good capacity, lightweight, heat proof handle, cleans up like a dream and is a great buy at this price. Rating: Date: 2008-04-10 lighter than other annodized pans and a cheap hollow handle I bought this off teh cooks recommendation. I didn't like the handle that much. While it isn't flimsy, its not as strong as I would have liked-its hollowed out with rounded edges but not as nice as say the cooks line from JC Penneys (which I own a 8" annodized nonstick skillet with eclipse nonstick coating that I love!!)
The handle is two pieces riveted to the pan instead of one solid one. I'm not fond of that either...just seems cheaply designed but hey its not all clad!!!
Add to it that when it arrived the pan was out of round but the box didn't look damaged at all. I may look at Penny's or Sears for this as Sears has one for less with no shipping charges.
I'm a pretty avid Cooks fan and follow their recommedations but this one looks like they went for a real value oriented choice on this one. Rating: Date: 2008-04-10 Great saute pan. I chose this pan on the recommendation of Cook's Illustrated. I was pleased to throw away my old Calphalon pan which had seen hard duty. This pan is every inch as good as the Calphalon, at about one fourth the price. It has a nice heft to it and I like the long cool handle. It browns well and evenly, certainly hasn't warped or scratched and with a universal lid I can use it for many kinds of cooking. I might buy a couple more and put them away for when this one gives out. Rating: Date: 2008-04-06 Great Non-stick pan....recommended by "Cook's Country" I bought this pan because it was recommended by "Cook's Country" magazine (sister magazine to "Cook's Illustrated".) I respect their test kitchen immensely...it's like the "Consumer Reports" of cooking. The pan is the perfect size and very light weight. The handle does not get hot when on the stove top and it is very comfortable to hold. I'm going to purchase the 8" pan also. |
