  - Massive capacity - Whether they are in an external drive or a notebook computer, WD's 320 GB 2.5-inch drives offer the most available capacity for space-hungry operating systems like Windows Vista?, plus plenty of room left over for photos, music, and video
- Fast and Efficient - With 5400 RPM spin speed and 12 ms access time, even the most demanding customer will appreciate the performance achieved by WD Scorpio drives.
- Quiet - In a notebook drive, silence is golden. WD's exclusive WhisperDrive combines state-of-the-art seeking algorithms to yield one of the quietest 2.5-inch hard drives on the market. These algorithms also optimize the way a drive seeks for data, which significantly improves power consumption. So now silence (and longer battery life) is golden
- Reliable and Rugged - WD's ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. WD's SecurePark parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long term reliability due to less head wear, and improved non- operational shock tolerance
- Tested for Compatibility - We perform tests on hundreds of systems and a multitude of platforms in Western Digital's FIT Lab and Mobile Compatibility Lab to give our customers confidence that our drives will work in their systems

I got it for 137, and it's in my PS3. Problem solved. It's been in there a while with no problems. It's quiet. Seek time was the same as the stock drive, and it takes the same amount of time to pull anything up. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. It rocks! Rating: Date: 2008-06-22 Wonderful product I purchased this item to replace my ps3's old 60gb and I'm really glad I did this! The extra space is truly appreciated! Highly reccomend! Rating: Date: 2008-06-18 Big - Fast & Cheap Just what I needed to expand my Laptop. It gives me plenty of space for music, photos and software. Rating: Date: 2008-06-11 Works like a charm I was looking for a larger drive to replace my 160gb Sony VAIO SZ660 notebook. With the latest 320gb drives, I wanted to make sure that it still gave a decent performance and maintained an acceptable power consumption. This drive worked in every aspect. Just from normal use, I can't really see any difference in the battery life without testing it in depth. But from normal use, it seems to be the same; give or take 5mins, which is quite acceptable for double the storage. The performance is on par with the OEM 160gb 5400rpm Seagate. What's amazing is the noise. I can hardly hear any noise from the spinning and the actuator reading data. The Seagate was quite loud. I could hear it accessing data with clicking noises. The WD is just silent.
Good buy. Rating: Date: 2008-06-03 Great little drive One of the specific reasons that I picked this drive was the closeness in the specs with the 160GB drive that Sony put in my laptop. Included was the SATA 300 transfer rate. I wanted a 7200 RPM drive, but could not find one that was SATA 300. The drive is quick and has operated flawlessly for my application. I downgraded my laptop from Vista to XP and used the new drive to preserve the Vista instance.
Don't know how much the speed of this drive contributes, but the machine seems more than twice as fast now. BTW, a USB to SATA interface for the old drive was immeasureably helpful in transfering my data to the new system. It's also good to have friends to help this process along. |
